September is Pain Awareness Month

Nearly 100,000,000 Americans experience chronic pain.  That number is greater than the total of individuals who have cancer, heart disease, and diabetes.  Over 80% of people with chronic pain indicate that their basic level of function is impacted daily.

The purpose of pain awareness month is to increase awareness of the pain epidemic.  There are advanced pain treatment options available to alleviate pain.  Individuals with pain and their families can benefit from the many resources available.  The American Chronic Pain Association has pain management tools outlined on their website.  Seeking the assistance of specialists in pain management provides an opportunity for accurate diagnosis, and a well outlined treatment plan.
