Study Shows Benefits of Epidural Injections for Chronic Spine Pain
In a study published in Pain Physician (2015;18:E939-E1004), researchers analyzed 52 randomized controlled studies to determine effectiveness of epidural injections. After review of publications over the past 50 years, the authors concluded that epidural injections are effective in managing chronic pain if the injections performed are for the correct diagnosis. Diagnoses identified as benefitting from epidural injections include disc herniation, discogenic pain, central spinal stenosis, and post-surgery syndrome.
